In his attempts to halt the looming impeachment, the embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has beseeched ODM leader Raila Odinga to rescue him.

In a plead veiled as caution to the former Prime Minister, Gachagua asked him to protect his image by not allowing his allies in the Parliament to support the ouster motion.

Gachagua in a joint media interview appeared to have yielded to pressure to send him home with claims over 300 MPs have appended their signatures to the motion sponsored by Kibwezi West MP Eckomas Mwengi.

“We will be shocked if Raila people will be used to kick deputy president out of the government. It will show he joined the government to bring problems” Gachagua said.

Kibwezi West MP Eckomas Mwengi moved the motion.

He urged Raila to intervene so not to dent his bid for the chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

“You cannot be hunting for AUC seat to unite Africans but you are destabilising home.  If ODM MPs will unite with my detractors, it will portray Raila as destroyer. It will taint his image in Africa and worldwide” he said.

MPs will discuss the motion today afternoon.
