Mwende Macharia quits Radio Maisha a day after station celebrated 14 years

Queen of the airwaves Esther Mwende Macharia has called it a day at the Standard Group-owned Radio Maisha.

Her exit came a day after the station celebrated 14th birthday with unveiling of a modern audio-visual studio on Friday.

Mwende who had been at the station since it was established in 2010 hinted she was headed to another station to continue what she is adept at.

“I can not wait to share with you my next home so that I can continue doing what I do best. I am beyond thrilled already. Team Queen let’s get informed, let’s get into the rhythm, mkoko ndio umealika maua” she told her fans.

Word has it she is heading to Cape Media owned Radio 47 which has been on talents poaching spree.

She left at a time the company is facing financial challenges and plans are underway to send him over 300 employees.

Standard group has also merged some of its products that have not been doing so-well.

Recently they announced plans to raise Sh1.5 billion through a rights issue.
