Anthony Mwangi has stepped down after two years as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the organisation for manufacturing value-added industries in Kenya.
KAM Board Chairperson Jane Karuku announced Mwangi’s resignation yesterday.
Mwangi succeeded Phyllis Wakiaga in September 2022. Wakiaga had served for nine years.
“Since joining KAM as the CEO, Mr Mwangi has been instrumental in driving the Association’s advocacy initiatives towards realising the Manufacturing 20by30 strategy.” Ms Karuku announced.
The board announced Chief Operating Officer Tobias Alando as the acting CEO as the process of recruiting another boss kicks off.
Alando joined KAM in 2005 and has been rising through the ranks of company.
“We are confident that under Mr Alando’s interim leadership, KAM will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by Mr Mwangi,” Ms Karuku said.
The association has been around for 65 years.
Mwangi previously worked at Bolt, Tullow Oil, IBM and Kenya Airways in various capacities.
He has a Masters’ Degree in Public Policy and Management from Strathmore Business School, a Bachelor’s degree from University of Nairobi and a Certificate of Public Policy from New York University.
