For the third time since August 2022, Meru MCAs have impeached the Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
Today 49 MCAs voted in favour of the impeachment motion while 17 others rejected the move.
Three members failed to participate in the process to hound her out of office over charges of abuse of office, gross misconduct and gross violation of the Constitution and other laws.
The motion tabled by Deputy Majority leader Zipporah Kinya met the two-thirds threshold.
Mwangaza will await the Senate’s decision to know if the house will save her or agree with the county assembly.
She becomes the first governor to be impeached several times in the country.
Last month Meru High Court made a temporary adjournment of the motion after she went to court to stop the ouster saying it was driven by malice from her political rivals.
The mover withdrew the motion in July 30 but the tabled it again on August 1.
