Ten years ago on July 27, 2014 Luhya men from Nambale town of Busia county woke up groomed than usual and ready to receive new spouses.
They claimed they had been promised free wives from far Ukambani and on top, a sack of maize and Sh10, 000.
Priority was the bachelors then those married but wanted to change the ‘diet’.
Some hired clothes and others went for HIV/Aids tests, saying they were tired of their ‘pricey’ women.
They were out early and according to their women, they had not seen their men so neat before.
After it turned out to be a hoax, women ridiculed them. The source of the prank remains a mystery to-date.
