Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has made an application at the Milimani Chief Magistrate Court seeking to detain activist Boniface Mwangi and four others for 21 days to complete probe into crimes they are charged of.
Mwangi, Albert Wambugu, Robert Otieno, Pablo Chacha and Erot Franco were arrested yesterday and now are charged of alleged false publication, taking part in an unlawful assembly and creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
In the application, the DCI officer George Karanja that on July 25 along Koinange Street, Nairobi, the five caused a breach of peace.
DCI alleges that the accused inconvenienced road users by blocking the road with white coffin, seven white crosses with names inscribed on them and allegedly distributing t-shirts allegedly bearing inciteful words.
For three weeks, the detectives claim they want to establish source of the coffins, purported financiers and motive.
