Leaders, prominent personalities, the rich and even poor keep pets. Life is better when a dog, cat or other kind of animal is around humans.
Former Chief Justice David Maraga is one such leader. In his Karen home he keeps a pet dog which is an American Eskimo breed.
The dog name is Taby. But they did not pick the name randomly. No. Taby is Maraga’s daughter.
It is a pampered dog which unlike those in the villages and streets that are stressed, hungry and always harassed, Taby gets medical attention and extra affection from the family.

At Maraga’s home, Taby enjoys playing on the soft green grass and the serenity in that upmarket neighbourhood.
Maraga’s wife Yucabeth Nyaboke in a past interview told journalists they bought the dog for their daughter who then was in United Kingdom for further education.
They decided to name it after her to feel her presence even when she was away from the family.
“It is an American Eskimo. She is usually excited on seeing guests. She loves jogging around and playing on the grass” Nyaboke said.

The American Eskimo breed originated in Germany. The breed’s progenitors were in Germany but because of anti-German sentiment during the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the breed was renamed American Eskimo Dog breed.
